The beginning of McCotter Ford-Mercury first took root when C R McCotter landed a job with the Ford Motor Company in Jacksonville in the late 1920 s. Mr. McCotter worked his way up from mail clerk, to Sales Zone Manager for Ford Motor Company. In 1944 he founded McCotter Ford-Mercury. At the company s startup, there were 9 employees: C R McCotter, his wife Bernice, a Service and Parts Manager, 3 technicians and an oil changer. The company began by selling used cars, and parts due to a slow in car production caused by World War II. Now, the company sells new and pre-owned Ford and Mercury vehicles. McCotter Ford-Mercury also finances and services cars and sells spray in bed liners.
